Godesberg, Sept. 2 German circles express the hope that the talks between Mr. Chamberlain, British Prinse Minister, and Herr Hitler, German Chancellor,' will not break down. The German opinion is that, Mr. Chamberlain has made such a good impression on the Fuehrer. both as a man. of goodwill and sa a negotiator, that Herr Hitler will not lightly allow a breakdown to be caused by any untoward events. One German spokesman said to Reuter, "Mr. Chamberlain yester day jalked to the German Chan- cellar with perfect frankness of the dimcultles which had to be met but that was not by any means a ground for pessimism. It is far better for both sides to know just where they stand."
