The market opened 1/8 of a cent lawer for all deliveries as com- pared with Saturday's closing quotations,

After the opening the market was featureless, dealers and specu- lators preferring to maintain side-line positions, mainly due to the fact that Rubber Exchanges in London and New York were closed on Saturday last.

Subsequently, however, the market encountered easiness due to apprehensions of increasing labour-troubles in the American Motor- car industry together with continued nervousness about the European political situation. Selling, mainly for speculative accounts and com- ing on a narrow market, was responsible for a gradual pricé-decline of 1/2 cent for all deliveries, but towards the close of the session prices for spot and October-December delivery staged a slight re- covery of 1/8 cent, the market closing with a steady undertone.

Unofficially total Malayan Rubber Exports for September are es- timated at 43,500 tons against actual shipments, of 47,246 tons for August-and 43,689 tons for July respectively."
