had its influence in forming the conclusion at which the Secretary of State, the Lord of the Treasury and the Chancellor

of the Exchequer arrived.

But further than renting the Bank the depository of un-employed Balances, to the increase of the Establishment

Charges by the slight interest thereon,

I do not think it advisable to make use

of that Body.

I may also add, though the point is a minor one,

that many Advances

would require amendment or repeal, if the Colonial Treasury

were abolished.
