London, Sept. 11.

On the eve of the League of Nations Assembly, Lord Lis- towel, as chairman on behalf of the China Campaign Commit- tee, wrote to Lord Halifax, Foreign Secretary, requesting the British Government 10 make the strongest protesi at Geneva against the use of polson gas by the Japanese in China.

The letter quotes"evidence of the recent use of gas by the Japanese which the Committee submits is "substantial and conclusive." The evidence, says Lord Listowel, "does not come exclusively from Chines.. sources, but is supported by eye- witness accounts from foreign re- porters and doctors attending the troops."

Lord Listowel says that the large section of British public opin- lon represented by the China Campaign Committee urges the Government to give public support at the Assembly to the legitimate demands of the Chinese Govern ment in this matter.(Reuter),

GREAT BRITAIN'S MOBILISATION - ORDERS

Will Take Nine Days To

Complete Measures

Berlin, September 11.

Britain's mobilisation, according to a report, in the Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, goes far beyond, what was reported" on" Friday night from the British Admiralty and concerns not only the Navy but also the Army.

On the basis of thoroughly reliable information we are able to add," writes the Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, that the mobilisation measures taken are not confined to these comparatively harmless steps officially admitted on Friday night.

Very probably the mobilisation of mine sweepers was made known because it could not possibly be interpreted by the world as a measure of attack.

Britain's military preparations, however, are not restricted thereto and not even to her set 'but It also concerns, all sections of the national defence forces including the army. The measures which have been decided upon will require about hine days to complete."— (Transocean).
