Club Do Well Against The Royal Scots; South China

Find New Forward

In intensive heat, but with no lack of enthusiasm, the local foot- ball season began on Saturday with two matches in the first division and two in the second, all being "friendly" encounters.

The best game was that between the Hong Kong Football Club and the Royal Scots, when the latter were given a bad fright. Field- ing a team which, considering the earliness of the season. was re- markable for its good combination, the Club ran away with a swift lead of two goals, both from the feet of Ernie Strange, and, before. the interval. Kirwan made it three.

Tang Lai Shiu-wing and Kwong-sum scored the other goals.

JUNIOR DIVISION With their forwards running riot for the best part of the game the Royal Scots Juniors beat Club Second's by nine goals to two,

The Scots came back strongly. and briliant shooting by Hossack. who netted a "hat-trick" in "quick succession, saw them level up the big défelt. Strange then scored once more for his own, hat-trick but a little before' timë 'McKay beat Payne to make the game a draw. SOUTH CHINA'S FAST WIN

Their forward line was, as usual. brillant, but its characteristic of taking things easy when the op position's measure has been taken was in evidence, and a number of opportunities was missed."
