The market opened 3/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as compared with Tuesday's closing rates.
Throughout the session the merket ruled stendy due to the bet- ter sentiment displayed on the American Security and Commodity Exchanges coupled with reports of a considerable relaxation of the European political tension. Apart from fair enquiry for "actuals," substantial buying for trade and speculative accounts was in evi- cence. This fact is in contrast to the situation prevalent during the last few days, when buying was mainly for consumers who, in the ab- sence of outside operators being too nervous of the International political situation to enter the market on the longside, acquired fair quantities at advantageous prices.
Subsequently prices registered an advance of 1/8 cent for all de- liveries, but this alight gain was lost again towards the close of the session market closing with a very quiet" undertone.
,,Malayan statistics at the end of July showed an increase in Estate-stocks of over 3,000 tons, which is, however, explained by the new regulation regarding the carrying of them. With regard to the 28it possibility of a change in quota for the last quarter of this year, it is too early yet to form a definite opinion. but it is safe to assume that nothing will be done to bring the market on a lower level..

Trading was very inactive.. aside from early foreign selling and trade prices-fixing. Later. prices declined on crop estimates and mo derate hedging as well as local selling. The market lacked incentive, with traders awaiting foreign political developments. Finally, the market closed barely steady.

CHICAGO WHEAT
The market sagged on increasing competition, among exporting countries. The easiness of Winnipeg and Liverpool cables and the improved European outlook held back the advance. Finally, prices recovered on expectations of smaller Spring wheat estimates and the removal of hedges against sales of cash wheat to the Govenment.
