The Singapore Rubber market opened about cent lower for all deliveries. European political news was about unchanged. Reports of

reciprocal the successful completion of the Anglo-American

trade treaty failed to Improve sentiment, and the Singapore market slipped to 27-3/8 for January-March under heavy long liquidation and short- selling by dealers.

Early in the afternoon business was done at 27-3/8 for January- March, but in the final hour market became steadier with prices showing some Improvement.

We expect the market to rally sharply on any favourable news. The market has had to absorb some heavy speculative long liquida: tion and some heavy short sales, which has greatly improved the technical position of the market.

Singapore Harbour workers have been fishing, in dry dock recently. From the bottom of the Redab, Malayan coasting Tessel, they filled five bags full of sucker fish.

Bucker fish, most common pa rasites in local waters, cleave to the bottom of vessels, live and feed on the clustering barnacles there.
