The July figures of Great Britain's overseas commerce. issued on August 15, reflect the in general recent recession trade.

The market opened 1/8 of a cent lower for all deliveries as com- pared with Monday's closing quotations.
Throughout the day the market ruled very quiet and dull. Des pite a fair demand for. "spot" Rubber, buying interest in forward positions for trade and speculative accounts was at a low ebb, opera- tora preferring to await further developments on the London and New York Rubber Exchanges before entering into fresh commitments on a larger scale: Also the approaching meeting of the International Rubber Regulation Committee on September 12, at which the permis- sible export-quota for the last quarter of this year will be fixed, may possibly be responsible for the hesitant attitude adopted by opera- tors. In view of this situation the market is expected to fluctuate within rather narrow limits for the time being.
During the last trading hour prices registered a slight decline 1/8. cent for all deliveries, the market closing with a quiet undertone.
