Plans For The Launching
It is officially announced that the launching of the "new Cunard White Star liger Queen Elizabeth," of 85,800 tons built by John Brown and Co., Limited, at Clydebank. will take place at 3.30 p.m. oa Tuesday, September 27. The ceremony of naming the ship by the Queen will be broadcast to the world, says The Times.
The Queen Elizabeth will be 10ft. longer than the Queen Mary, and will be the biggest ship in the world." Many points of difference between the two vessels were painted out to Press representa- tives who inspected the new liner recently.
܆
Externally there are marked changes, and for this reason the Queen Elizabeth will be termed a companion ship to the Queen Mary rather than a sister ship.
