NEWSPAPERS "PUT WESLEY ON THE
MAP AGAIN"
The Rev. Ensor Walters, a former president speaking at the Me- thodist Conference at Hull recently praised the press when he referr- ed to remarks made by the president, Dr. R. W. Lansdell Wardle.
"I do not wish. In any way to criticise the president's remarks," he said, "but I do want to say publicly that the press in this conn- try, on the Continent, and in America and Australla is rendering magnificent help in making Wesley Day known. It was largely owing to the press that Jöhn Wesley was put once again on the map, and his conversion realised as a great, significant event."
It was decided that a special message should be issued to the Methodist people to "represent the solemn judgment of the con- ference" an the Wesley Day, cele brations and to point out the real the day to the significance of Church.
