Queens ships be at the disposal of the Gov- Although they have lent a steamer (the Dover) to the Govt of the Gambia, I think there is no good objection to putting such a steamer under the orders of the Governor. But I see no necessity for doing so, as it might be reserved for the express purpose of protecting the trade and not liable to be carried away for other objects, the Commanding Officer might remain under the orders of the Admiral of the Station, while the Colony might justly be called upon to pay the cost of maintaining her.
