The market has been er during the last week although business continues on a smali scale only. Sellers experienced difficulties as all shares offering, were readily absorbed.
Star Ferries, however, experi enced a set back on the strength of a circular letter issued by that Company to shareholders to the effect that it is not at present the intention of Government to renew Pier Leases afer December 31, 1949 as the whole question of the fu- ture organization of the Port is now coming under active consider- ation. The shares yielded to sell- ing pressure and dropped from $84 to $75, but later rallied to $77 with buyers at this figure.
Hotels offering at $6.40 wer readily taken up. Trams improved from $17 and changed hands at steady de- $17.65. There was a
HK. Docks and sales mand for were reported at $21 for the old shares. HK Banka were wanted at $1,480, Electrics at $50), and Watsons at $6.80.
Gold Mining Stocks have re- mained steady although there is in prices. Mantis little change market close quiet.
