Duff Cooper, announced in the House of Commons yesterday that the naval agreement con- cluded by Britain, the United States and France in 1936 had been supplemented by an agreement which raises the tonnage limit for battleships from 35,000 to 45,000 while retaining the previous maxi. mum calibre for heavy guns of 16 inches.
