SOLUTION TOMORROW
Under the plan adopted by the Sub-Committee, three mobile me- dical units have been set up to work in conjunction with the Chi- nese authorities in their respective areas who assume all political and administrative responsibility.. The function of the League units is to i advise and support the competent Chinese technical services.
The three medical units---the Brst under Dr. Mooser (Swiss), the second under Dr. R. C. Robertson (British), and the third under Dr. (Inspecteur General Lasnet (French)-arrived in Hong Kong early in January.
The Epidemic Commission"con- sists of the three Commissioners, together with a representative of the Chinese, Government" (at årsti Dr. J. Heng Liu. later replaced by Dr. Robert Lim) and Dr. Bargic (Yugoslav), the League of Nations Technical Adviser on public health questions to the Chinese Government. who has spent the last six years. in China.
HUMAN SUFFERING
In his statement to, the Epide- mic Commission. Dr. Llu gave a vivid idea of the consequences of the war in terms of human suffer- ing. The wounded, he said, could be counted by the hundred thou sand, the homeless and destitute numbered millicas, and there were many millions of sick who could get no medical care-
Dr Lu went on to promise the Epidemic Commission the utmost co-operation from the Chinese Government. He said that China's financial contribution towards the support of the units was already In the hands of the Commission, whom he assured that China would do her part in making the work a success.
