Selling on a small scale has been encountered during the the week and prices have given way to some extent. Buyers are inclined to await the trend of events in South China.
On the other hand sellers, de- sirous of liquidating their positions, have found themselves forced to sparsely offered bids, in accept most cases. below quoted prices. Trams came in for most atten- tion and remained steady at $18.50 to $18.55. Providents (consol dated, old) were wanted at $8, and the new shares at $5.80. Hotels were wanted at $6.10 and Electrics at $57. China Lights (o) had buy- ers at $10.20 and sellers at $10.30. Wharves could be obtained at $125 and Lands at $34. Small lots of Union Insurance shares could be obtained at $500, and Star Ferries At 485.
