LAWN BOWLS NOTES
(Continted from. Page 10)
Craigengower in the League Table by virtue of their win over the Police; they have scored the same number of points as Recreio, each having won 4 matches in 6, where- as Craigengower now have only Į won three out of five matches.
B. Basto's win of 24 shots, over "A Brooksbank included a 8 on the 11th head. Busto played extremely well and was ably supported by Dr. A. P. Guterres, his No. 3, F. N. Soares who went down to W, Gl by 18-20 was the only Portuguese skip to lose, J. J. Basto, the other Portuguese skip, beating J. Roger by 31-20.
HILLYER'S SEVEN
The Civil Service second team beat Talkoo R.C. at home by 12 shots. In this match, W. Hlyer who had been playing for the first team a couple of times this season, celebrated his return to the Sec- onds by scoring a 7 on the very first head against R. Keown, whom he eventually beat by 29 shots to 18. D. Munro in beating J. Cook by 8 shots was the only Talkoo skip to win his match, but his gallant effort was to no purpose,
The Craigengower C.C. created a surprise last Saturday when they defeated the Hong Kong Electric on their own green. Even though they were playing at home, their most unexpected as victory was their opponents were regarded by some as very strong candidates for championship honours, having, un- t last Saturday, won three out of Mour matches. On the other hand, Craigengower had occupied a very humble position in the League Table, having only one victory to their credit. In view, therefore, of their opponent's impressive record, Cralgengower's win by 7 shots was all the more meritorious, especially So as their victory was not the result of a fluke..

K.F.C.'S RECORD.
The Kowloon Football Club maintained their 100 per cent re- cord when they beat the Hong Kong Football Club on their own' green. They are now the only team to have the enviable record of having won all their matches to date in all the three Divisions of the Lawn Bowls League, as the Craigengower first team, the only other team to share this honour with them before last Saturday, have subsequently been beaten by Kowloon Dock. In defeating the Hong Kong Footballers by 50 shots, the Kowloon F.C. equalled the re- cord which they set up for the Third Division last week against the Yacht Club. It is a coincidence that the scores in both matches were identical, as on the two oc- caslong the Kowloon F.C. scored 89 shots and their opponenta 39.
Although all the three K.F.C. skips were up, special mention much be made of W. V. Field and his men whose splendid performance enabled them to Inflict a severe dzubhing on J. Trengrove's rink. Sq well did Field's ring play that Tren-
·grove and his men had to fight very hard indeed for their shots and when the last wood had been delivered they had only managed to collect 9 shots scored on only 6 out of the 21 heads this in reply to Field's 401

When Hollidge got into an early lead and maintained It until the 18th head when the score was, 20-11 in his favour, the spectators thought that it was a foregone conclusion that he would win easily. But they reckoned without the indomitable fighting spirit of Xavier and Lilicrap. With defeat staring them in the face, they fought back so gallantly and to such good effect that on the 20th head they had not only drawn level with their opponents but were actually leading by one shot. This was brought about by two succes- alves fives. After this excellent display. It seems a pity that their cfforts
not crowned with success, as Hollidge put in, two shots on the last head to win by However, there is no gain- 22--21 saying the fact that both Hillyer and Hollicge deserved their victory As they played much better than their cyponents who; but for their short spurt of brilliance towards the end, played Indifferently.
