Emergency Regulations To Stop Eviction And Limit Rents Asked
A petition, drawn up by Mr. J. P.; Braga, O.B.E, and signed by more than a thousand local residents, including the editors of all leading English and Chinese newspapers in thé Čolony, has been for- warded to His Excellency the Governor, Sir Geoffry Northcote, pray- ing for the early promulgation of emergency measures to deal with the question of high routs and forcible evletion of tenants.

4. That the direct consequence has been a continuous influx of refugees into Hong Kong, and an insistent, growing demand on the housing - accommodation available in the Colony.
6. That as a result of the extension of hostilities to areas nearer the Colony, apprehension is felt that accommodation may have to be provided for additional thousands of refugees who may flock to Hong Kong.
