FIRM MANAGER PLEADS

GUILTY TO FRAUD

Four Years' Sentence Despite Counsel's Mitigation Plea

་་

Although his counsel, the Hon, Mr. Leo D'Almada. Jnr., made a strong plea in mitigation for him, U Chan-jong, manager of Forber and Company, was sentenced to four years' hard labour by the Chief Justice, Sir Atholl MacGregor, at the Criminal Sessions yesterday after he had pleaded guilty to six charges of forgery of delivery orders on the Hong Kong and Kowloon Whart Godown Co. Ltd. issued to him by the Chartered Bank of India, Australia, and China, and of obtaining goods by virtue of those forged documents.

Mr. D'Almada was instructed by order to meet these losses. Mr. C. D'Almada, of Messrs. Leo resorted to frauds.
