Bucharest, May 11.
A shot was fired near Eing Carol while he was attending the Independence Day demonstration here yesterday.
Rumours of an attempt on the King's life, spread "consequently, but the official version of the incident is that a man in the "crowd accidentally shot himself.
It was later learned that the! King, who had just held a big military review, had dismounted from his horse and was preparing to enter a motor car when a shot was heard.
It is revealed that a guard, who was a secret service man in' plain clothes, had a revolver in his pocket and had his hand on the trigger when a high police officer, who was making way for the King's "horse be led away. pushed back the guard without knowing that he was a secret ser- vice man.
