That I propose to apply for works, Grad, Streets, Bridges, and other important objects a sum than £13,950, a portion of which I trust will be found directly or indirectly reproductive.

On reconsideration of the Education question I intend (instead of £1,000) to appropriate only £550, as I find some time must elapse before I can bring any extensive plans into operation. Moreover, the sum £235 is applied to Educational objects under Salaries or grants to native Teachers, and a further sum of £50 on account of School House Rent.

I have made my calculations on what I deem a very moderate anticipation of receipts, as should the demand for Lands continue, the income of 1858 will probably greatly exceed the amount placed on the estimate.
