VER 12,000 JAPANESE OFFICERS AND SOLDIERS WERE KILLED DURING ENGAGEMENTS ON VARIOUS FRONTS DURING THE FIRST HALF OF APRIL, ACCORDING TO AN ESTIMATE BY CHINESE MILITARY HEADQUARTERS.

Speaking at the Charler Day kincheon of the Canton" Rotary Club on Wednesday, General Wu Te-chen, Chairman of the Kwang- tung Provincial Government, declared that in a peaceful work goodwill, understanding and fellowship among nations prevail. The woes and troubles of one nation is sympathised with and shäred by other nations.

"Japan falls to grasp this spirit of po-operation. The world cannot bat sympathise with China for having such an unreason- able and unjust neighbour," remarked General Wu.

"The world is now faced with a race in rearmament which brings heavier taxation and increases the cost of living in the four corners of the globe," he added. "......This feeling of insecurity has created social unrest all over the world which may be traced to Japan, who has been the main obstacle to disarmament."
