My Lord,
With reference to the concluding paragraphs of my Despatch No. 100 of the 6th ultimo, I have the honour to report to Your Lordship that
the difficulty of finding a successor to Mr. Caldwell in the Offices of General Interpreter and Assistant Superintendent of Police, induced me to delay filling the vacancy
till I had given mature consideration to the subject.
