Godowns which it is most desirable should be isolated on accounts of Fire Insurance - My object wishing to obtain the back parts is that I may enclose it to prevent dangerous buildings being erected, such as Chinese hovels.

I therefore have to beg the favour of this ground being reclaimed pro rata being leased to me at a rent on its superficies as compared with the front lots referred to above,

I remain,

Ho.

Surveyor General's Office, Victoria, 6th August 1856.

Sir,

With reference to my letter to you of the 8th June, No. 29, I have the honour to refer you to the result of the sale of Lot No. 73, or a nearly equivalent area of ground arranged on a different plan resumed from Mr. Murrow for Ordnance purposes.

The area formerly leased to Mr. Murrow at a rental of £10 per annum, and at the Sale on the 17th instant it produced a premium of £605, and a rental of £60, showing the advantage derived by Government by the change.

H. T. Mover, Esquire,

Colonial Secretary.
