Japanese Strut Shamelessly Across Dark History
(This is the first of a series of three articles by
a special Correspondent who has just returned from a tour of North China).
NEVER BEFORE in the history of any conflict between two, na. tions has there been such a pitiable and woeful tale of war- crazed atrocity, plunder, pillage and cruelty on the part of the in- vader as in the, present Sino-Japanese war.
That is the conclusion I' havearrived at after a tour of North China over a period of two months.
I started on my tour from Hong Kong in one of the numerous coasting vessels that ply between the North and the South of China, the long stops at the various ports giving me ample opportunity to see for myself the real state of affairs in each place and the reac- tion on the people.
In the course of my trip I met and discussed the present hos- tilities with several influential men of both countries and what they had to say was at the same time illuminating and surprising.
