OPPOSING FORCES THROW HAND GRENADES

Hankow, March 21. Chinese and Japanese troops on the Tientsin-Pukow Kallway front are facing each other across the Grand Canal, south-east of Tenghsien near Hanchwang, where the railway crosses China's 2,500 years old waterway.

With only 50 yards, separating the front lines, the opposing forces are resorting to throwing hand grenades.

British Ministers Discuss Foreign Affairs

London, March 21.

A conference on foreign affairs took place today between the Prime Minister, Mr. Chamberlain, the Foreign Secretary, Lord Halifax, and other members of the Cabinet, at which various com- munications received from the Dominions on the subject, were dis- cussed.

It is believed in political circles that the Dominions are mostly adverse to any agreement by the British Government to active in- tervention in continental affairs.

It is expected that Mr. Chamberlain, in his declaration to the House of Commons on Thursday, will stress the non-committal at- titude of the Cabinet regarding Czechoslovakia.-(Transocean).
