Hong Kong, 30th July 1855:
I have the honor to acknowledge
your Lordship's Circular of 11th May enclosing the Colonial Estimates for the
current year in which a vote is proposed
of £3800 for the service of this Colony.
I have the gratification to state to
your Lordship that the prosperous and
progressive state of the Financial resource of this Colony will enable me
wholly to dispense with this Parliamentary grant in aid.
