Already the Duchess has given a large order to Mainbocher, who is designing her spring wardrobe. She has chosen several black- and-white ensembles. as well as dresses carried out in two colours, and one black dress is broken with Insets of the new "lustre pink" which Mainbocher launched in his spring collection. The feeling for black and white is expressed in a long tunic blouse of white silk worn with a black wool "skirt. This choice thoroughly appreciates the tendency to combine silk and wool, while the new long-length bodices are already favourites with the Duchess.
Another of her spring ensemble. is a navy blue dress trimmed with white pique, and she shows liking for gay colour trimmings upon otherwise plain black silk and wool dresses. A few short capes, have been chosen by the Duchess to accompany her daytime dresses, and there is a black tailored coat which she intends to wear at once while the weather is still cold.
