ARMY AREA COMMITTEE TO MEET ON MONDAY
KNOWN THE WORLD OVER FOR ITS PURITY.
Present System Of Scoring MARTELL'S 3 STAR
"
Should Be Changed
The annual general meeting of the Army Area Lawn Tennis Com- mittee is to be held on Monday next, when it is hoped to have a co- presentative present from nach Unit, and that the opportunity will be taken to bring about some badly needed reforms,

The greatest need at the moment is the abolition of the present system of scoring in the League Matches. One point for each match won is far from satisfactory and leads to some anomalous positions in the League when the final positions are decided at the end of the season.

In most other Army Commands, I won all of its matches wins the both at home and abroad a point League, while the team that has SQUARE AT THE TURN

For example, in a League with nine teams, the anal positions, under the present scoring system, would be as follows, in accordance with the number of matches won
or lost:-

Obviously "D" is the team that should be at the head of the Table, and, with the "point per set" method of scoring it would be at the top. while the team with only 44 seta to its credit would drop to third or even fourth place, despite the fact that it had won. all of its matches."
