SOUTH CHINA "A" WINS

Eastern Beaten In Shield Tie

Nothing spectacular was witnessed at Caroline Hill yesterday, when South China "A" met and defeated Eastern in the Senior Shield competition by two goals to ni..

South China did not field their strongest team. but this was no excuse for the poor display they gave in the first half...Wong Mee Shun at centre-forward had many opportunities in this half but he failed to make good use of them. Ils shooting was poor and he was inclined to be erratle. Eastern played a trying game, but their combination was not good enough against South China's defence. "Lee Ying Kee played a fast rame fur them but the many fine centres he sent over were lost,

Eastern kicked off and the ball was passed to Lee Tacky who in turn sent. It down the wing but nothing resulted.

From this point the South China forwards monopolised play and the first opportunity they had of scor- ing was when Wong Mee Shun re- ceived the ball when well placed. He had only the custodian to beat but his shot went wide

By F. Mela

As the result of the cricket matches played in the First Division of the League on Saturday a very interesting position now obtains and the fight for championship honours is keener than ever.

The position as it stands is that the Indian Recreation Club is bracketed with the Craigengower Cricket Club for the top place in the League table. Kowloon Cricket Club is only two points behind and the meeting of the Indians and Kowloon, as well as the game be- "A"tween the Club and Craigangower Cricket Club on the coming Satur- day will be keenly awaited.. As I see it the chances of Craigengower Cricket Club winning League honours are extremely rosy.
