PURSE ON POTENTATE
"Everything else in the fourth day of the annual race meeting at Happy Valley yesterday was dwarfed by the sensational defeat in the Champions Stakes of Liberty Bay, Mr. Lambert Dunbar's champion pony which had never previously been beaten on the local turf, and which has been for some time debarred from the betting.
Appropriately, the lowering of this proud record was done by another great champion. Silky-
Mr. R. B. Moller. light, winner of the Derby, and the race itself was in keeping with the occasion. rode a magnificent race on his father's pony, and jockey as much as horse fully "deserved the sus tained applause that was spontaneously given when Miss Moller led in the winner.
Dividends mostly were smal, only three being over the 30 mark. Whalsey's surprise victory in the Northern Stakes paid 887.30 for a win, and in the same face Mac's Adventure returned $68.20. placing third.
Mr. C. Encarnacaq was again the most successful jockey, with two wins, a second, and two un- placed. while Mr. B. L. Tao, had two wins and two unplaced.
Mr. Eu Tong-sen, who on Tuesday headed the owners' lists with four wins and two thirds, add- ed three more wins and a second to his total.
