MR. E. G. SMITH-WRIGHT WINS FURTHER LAURELS
Stared at the China Fleet Club last night, the A.D.C. production. "French Without Tears,” proved a tremendous success. An attractive stage setting, captivating costumes, and an all-star cast made this rollicking comedy a cinch from the word go.
In recent productions the A.D.C. has harrowed us with tragedy and mystified us with problems, but now they have a winner In the play which kept: London amused for nearly two years. The dialogue bubbles over, with good laughs, and furthermore they are of a kind "to Batter the self-esteem of the audience, since they are subtle enough to make as all rather pleased at being "quick on the uptake"! The producer, Mr. E. G. Smith-Wright," has already won his laurels here with "Musical Chairs" and "Night, Must Fall," and does even better with this new play.
