"REBUFF TO ITALY MIGHT MEAN WAR!"-PREMIER

"Britain Should Not Yield To

Pressure"-Mr. Eden

London, February 22.

MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT assembled on Monday night to Is- ten to explanations of Mr: Anthony Eden's resignation as Foreign Secretary from Mr. Eden himself and the Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain.

Mr. Eden received a great ovation, constant cheers marking his speech. He said that the attitude of Italy towards. International problems, and to Britain in particular, was not such as to justify the opening of negotiations at this stage. He said Britain should stand Arm and not yield to pressure.

Mr. Chamberlain tried to justify his attitude by saying that he was concerned with the future and not with the past. He did not disagree with the view that Italy's action in the past had been un- satisfactory.

He added that a rebuff to Italy at this moment would result in intensification of anti-British feeling which might precipitate a war.
