JAPAN INTENDS TO SUPPRESS CHINESE · NATIONAL · GOVERNMENT
Tokyo, February 2.
A STENOGRAPHIC RECORD of" the questions and answers during the budgetary debate in the House of Representatives "yesterday, regarding Japan's attitude in the rights and interests acquired by third Powers in China since the outbreak of the present China incident, is as follows:-
Mr. Takejiro Nishioka, a leading member of the Seiyukai Party, interpellating the Foreign Minister, Mr. Koki Hirota, said: Not to deal with the Chiang Kai-shek administration means to crush it. Japan refuses to recognise the Chiang Kai-shek, ad- ministration but foreign Powers' recognise it as the "legitimate Government of China. Japan does not recognise the Chiang Kal-sher administration but the new regime has not yet been established in China-then does Japan regard China in a state of anarchy?

SATISFACTORY YEAR
Connued from Page 1)
We now look forward to another successful year. Last Saturday, January 29, we gave our first so- cial function for 1938 and many were of the opinion that it was one of the brightest functions we had given for some time.
We have arranged for three more dances before the close of the present season, and the an- nual cricket match between past and present members of the Corps is due to take place at Sookunpoo on Sunday, February 13. As three tennis courts are available on this
occasion, the Committee look for- ward to a good attendance.
It is hoped, that some form of out-door, amusement Caz take
