Silkylight's Impressive Run
Another very useful morning's work was put in at the Race Course yesterday when several of the new ponies that will be seen at the Annual Race Carnival were sent out.
"
Silkylight, one of the Derby candidates, did a very impres- site run over 11 miles, returning a last quarter time of 29.2 al- though the pony was rather slow' over the greater part of the distance.
Lovely Time, one of the new Australians, was also sent over the same distance which it covered in 3.36.2 with a last quarter of 28.4.
The times taken yesterday were as follows:-

less than a the final whistle
that they scored the equaliser from a short corner. They had rather the worse of the draw.
The team
was the same that acored such a brilliant win over the Kowloon Indian Tennis Club in the Inter-Section Final match on Sunday, but the players somehow seemed different. Lt. Pritam Nath worked wonders and in the second half did two or three' men's work. SPORADIC RAIDS
The Club's goal came early on when from a breakaway Bond shot right across the goal-mouth. Trê ball would almost certainly have cleared the net but Fowler put his stick in the way just at the right moment and deflected it to beat the Rajput goalie. After this re- verse the Rajput forwards swarmed to the attack but were soon beater back, and the Club took up the running and kept it up for most of the way except for sporadic raids by the other side.

On a neighbouring ground two scratch sides from the Hong Kong Singapore Royal Brigade Artillery and the Kumaon Rifles engaged in an impromptu game and after some ratchy play the latter team won by two goals to one. For the losera Hira Singh was again prominent but the rest. were rather inconsis tent and it was the better team work of the Kumaons that pulled them through. One of their goals, by Naik Gopal, was a fine effort, being scored from an aqufe angle.

Both in defence and attack Willie Reed was, as usual, a tower of strength and he was generally well backed up. Divett was also a very hard worker and created a good number of openings. Towards the end the military alde made des- perate efforts to get on level terms but it seemed likely that the Club would win when E. V. Reed was pulled up for an infringement in the area.
