Naval Building Programme To Be Broadened
Washington, January 25. President Roosevelt, had a conference this afternoon with members of the House of Representatives, Naval and Milltary Appropriations Committee, which has given rise to reports that the President is considering broadening the naval building pro- gramme as well as expansion of the Army,
Mr. May, a member of the House Military Committee, earlier stated that" "the whole defence layout” would be under discus- alon.
Mr. Vinson, Member of the Naval Committee, said he expect- ed the President's message to Congress would embrace the entire national defence-Reuter.
A later message states that after the conference leaders stated that Mr. Roosevelt would be sending a special message to Congress in a few days, dealing, in broad phrases, with national defence.
