Over 100 Members On Range
Yesterday morning the Hong Kong Rifle Association held its second Sunday shoot, by permission of the Military Authorities," on the Army Ranges at Kowloon City. The Association occupied all the available target accommodation on “A” range while that on “B” range was used by members of the II.K.V.D.C.
From the weather point of view, conditions were ideal, but once again the wind varied both in direction and strength, while the light at the longest distance, '(600 yards), was perpetually changing, to the detriment of many scores,
Over 100 members took part in the various competitions, which, it should be noted, embraced not only ride-shooting on the open-range, but revolver and clay-bird shooting as well. It is worthy of comment that under the energetic leadership of the Honorary Secretary of the HKR.A., interest in the latter form of shooting is rapidly increasing, and yesterday members of the Senior Service were to be sead competing with their octitempor- aries from the Regular Army, and Volunteers,
As regards the open-range, there was not only a Spoon Shoot, but in addition, the annual "Wapen- schaw" competition was held, as well as a team match, all three being Ared concurrently.

In the "Wapenschaw" event, in which each competitor brings with him to the ranges à prize presented by him, these prizes are displayed after the shoot
over, and the competitor making the highest score has the Arst cholce, and so on in order of merit. The frst competition of this kind was held by the Association on Boxing Day, 1935, and the second on the same day in 1936; at the request of those interested. and bearing in mind the monthly Sunday shoot which now
takes place on the Army Ranges, it was decided to defer the 1937 competition until the first Sunday in 1938, and judging by the success achieved yesterday, it is likely that this ruling will re- main in force "for future years since the records kept by the AR50- clation show that this year the number of competitors was more than double that of last year, and 14 nearly 50 per cent, greater than
that in 1935...

NEW HANDICAPS
In view of the number of com- petitors who are using the SR.(a) rifle at the ordinary. Spoon Shoots, It has been decided that a spoon shall be awarded in this class for. the highest nett score, as has been done aince the inception of the Association in the case of those using the S.R. (b) weapon.
Many members of the Association received something in the nature of a shock yesterday morning when the revised lists of handicaps were Published for the first time, taking effect from 9 o'clock on that day, so that yesterday's shoota were all conducted under the new hand-
cap.
was won by members of the Hong Kong Police Force team, with a clear lead of 19 points over their nearest competitors, the members of the Naval Range Staff at Stone- cutters: then came, in order of merit, teams from the 1st Bn. The Middlesex Regiment, with an ag- gregate of 475; the HK.V.D.C. with 474; the Dockyard Rife Club with 463; the Fortress R. E. with 460;. and the 1st Bn. The Seaforth Highlanders, also with an aggregate GI 480 points. The surprise of the morning was the high place taken by the H.K.V.D.C., who put in a scratch team at the last minute, and notwithstanding this, took fourth place in the match.
In the revolver individual com- petition there were insufficient ep- tries to permit of more than two Association "revolver" spoons being awarded; these were won by CpL Paran Singh and Inspector Ritchie, both of the Hong Kong Police.
In the clay-bird competition, the prize-winners in Competition No. 1, Open List, were Lt Cdr. Stud- holme, RN. (Association G. C. Silver Spoon), and Capt. W. New ton 1st Bn. Midd' R. (25 Cart- ridges). Similar prizes were won.

As regards the S.R. (b) -Spoon Shoot event, the nett spoon was taken by C.P.O. Pellow, of the Naval Range Staff at Stonecutters, with a nett aggregate of 95, which score also won for him the Donegall Badge arranged to be shot for con- currently yesterday morning; Mr. G. M Pollard of the Rine Club made a similar aggre- gate, but came second in the list, under the Regulations in force re- garding ties. Mr. Pollard accord- ingly took the spoon for the high- est handicap score, while another spoon was taken by Mr. Blake of the same Club. The remaining spoon, awarded in this series was won by Inspector Hopkins of the Hong Kong Police whose nett score of 92 tied with those of Lieut. 1.Jenks, RN., Cpl. E. T. Morris, R.M.,
