Canton. Jan. 20, Despite the business outlook in Canton which appears to be slack- enlag.
rather than improving. BRITISULINDA foreign "shipping agents here state that large-scale exports continue, particularly in regard to several SHIRALA commodities from Central and West TILAWA China provinces which formerly reached the coast by the Yangtze, and which are now obliged to use the railway to Canton and thence, to Hong Kong.
One of the shipments being handled in large quantities is wood oll in barrels, which formerly was shipped in bulk from Mankow and "other up-river ports to Shanghai.
A local newspaper says that foreign shipping concerns Shameen are doing their best not to ship goods on board Japanese steamers in Hong Kong in sympathy. with China's cause, and also on account of the possible risks involved. Reuter.
