Hundreds of visitors, Including | decided to present the Association many foreigners, thronged the stalls to view the samples of fruit, vegetables, cereals flowers, eggs, poultry and cattle, which had been grown or reared in the New Territories. Among those present were Wing-Commander and Mrs. A. K. Dalziel, the Honourable Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Alabaster, Mr. and Mrs. "E. I Wynne-Jones, Dr. and Mrs, S. W. Tso, Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Thomas Tam, Sir Elly Kadoorle, Mr. Lawrence' Kadoorie, Mr. A. Morris, Mr. W. Schofield, the Honourable Dr. R. H. Kotewall. Messrs. Tang Shiu-kin, J. T. Bagron, Je J. Whyte, J. RISE IN QUALITY `. Among the numerous exhibits à general steady rise in the quality of the various products was clear- ly noticeable. The number of ex- hibits was less than previously, 1 lack in Chinese vegetables and fruit being conspicuous everywhere. Last year the exhibits rïumbered almost 8,000, but there were less that 5.000 on Saturday. This, it was learned from the elders wis due to bad weather conditions and also to the typhoon.

Special exhibitions were Install- ed by Lady Margaret, Hd Tung, the Tat Tak School of Ping Shan, the Botanical and Forestry Depart- ment, and the Sunny Farm Limit- ed, which were not open for com- petition. These stalls were the finest on view, being neatly and

very cleverly constructed. The exhibits on Lady Ho Tung's stall were produced on her farm "Tung Ying Hok Po" in the New Terri- tocles.

Throughout the day, visitors were entertained with a Chinese opera. ". |--PHILANTHROPIC ACTIVITIES

His Excellency was met and wel- comed by the Rev. H. R. Wells, Chairman of the Association, Mr. Chas. Tetzel, Honorary Secretary: and the elders of the villages headed by Mr. Fung Kicheuk.

"We have to thank Sir Robert and Lady Ho Tung for their great kindness in allowing us to use their beautiful garden and house at Sheung Shul for the past eleven years, and for their princely hos- pitality during-ah that period; but we are assured that they will cob- tinue their interest in our work for future, and this will be an inspira- tion to us.

"We regret that Mr. Joseph has not been able to be present to-day to see his gift made over to us and to receive our thanks in person, but trust that he may be ablé inter to have an opportunity to see the Juliding in use. #
