BRITISH FLEET IN THE FAR IN THE FAR EAST TO BE REINFORCED?
MORE PLANES ALSO FOR SINGAPORE AND HONG KONG
London, January 2.
POLITICAL CIRCLES here believe that measures which have been in preparation since the begin- ning of December for strengthening British forces in the Far East, will now be carried out, following the latest Anglo-Japanese incidenta in Shanghai, which have again increased tension in the relations be tween the two countries.
A new British Note of prótest is expected to be handed in at Tokyo early this week, and it is considered probable that part of the Mediterranean Fleet will sail for Singapore, and possibly Hong Kong, in the course of the present mouth.
The air forces at Singapore and Hong Kong will, it is reliably stated, also be increased, but the des. patch of reinforcements for the British Army is not contemplated for the time being.-Transocean.
