The Kowloon Football Club, which has enjoyed an existence of almost 50 years, entered a new phase in its history on Saturday when, in the presence of a large number of members and friends, Mrs. N. L. Smith, wire of the Colonial Secretary, opened Its new] Club House.

· KARLY HISTORY At the inception in 1894, when Mr. J. N. Henderson was President and Captain, the Club membership was thirteen only, but they were all players. We had no ground of our own, and matches were played at Kowloon Docks and below Knutsford Terrace. In 1899 the Institute of Engineers took over the team, and matches were play- ed at Causeway Bay; in 1901, the V.R.C. to all intents and purposes ran the team, which functioned with varying fortunes until 1911, when the Club commenced again

Smith's interest in football in the Colony is well known, and we take it as a happy augury for the success of our Club that Mrs. Smith has kindly consented to perform the opening ceremony. I hope that all of you will enjoy a happy and successful year dur ing 1938, and in expressing the wish that it may be a successful year' for both our teams. I have much pleasure in asking Mrs. Smith to declare this Club House open,
