CANTEEN FUNDS The half-yearly Summary of contributions to the RN. Benevo- lent Trust from canteen funds for the period up to June 30, 1937, shows that the total of payments by the Navy, Army, and Air Force Institutes, representing one-ffth of rebate, amounted to £5,500 0s 9d. In addition there were direct payments from ships and estab- lishments" amounting to £1,603 23, The grand total of £7,103, 3.. Bd. shows an increase of £354 13 44. over that for the corresponding per'd of 1936.

FREE-FOR-ALL SEQUEL
A sequel to the free-for-all fight in Shaukiwan, on Christmas Day was the appearance, on remand, before Mr. R. A. D. Forrest at the Central Magistracy yesterday of nine fokls of the Hang Fat Peanut Oil Company on charges of dis- orderly conduct, Ten men were originally charged and Inspector A. Wright asked permission to with- draw against the last-defendant, Lal Fat, as he would not be ft for discharge from hospital for some time.
The Aght. Inspector Wright stated, followed a quarrel regard- ing the working of the peanut oil machine. Fists were used chiefly, though one man had a shovel. He asked that all defendants be bound over.'
His Worship accordingly bound the men over in $10 each for 12 'months.

R.A.F. YACHT CLUB
In order to encourage sailing among officers in the Force the committee of the RAF. Yacht Club, which has its headquarters at Calshot. Hants, has decided to present a challenge trophy for an annual Inter-unit sailing coinpeti- tion, the first of which will be held next summer. The races will be sailed on Saturdays and Sundays in the R.A.F. Yacht Club 14ft. one-design dinghies, and wil con- sist of two or more short races.
HEALTH RETURNS
The return showing the uumber of cases of notiäable diseases which bave been notified as having oc- curred in the Colony during the week ended on Saturday, at mid- night, discloses that there were seven cases of small-pox (five deaths), eight of diphtheria (four deaths), one of enteric fever, one of chicken pox, ona ot terebro- spinal fever (one death), 12 of dysentery (six deaths), and 90 deaths from tuberculosis,,
Four cases of small-pox, two of diphtheria; two of enteric fever, one of cerebro-spinal fever and two of dysentery were reported to the local Health Authorities during the 24 hours ended at midnight on Tuesday.
