Mc. Justice Simends, in the Chancery Division sanctioned scheme of arrangement and am- algamation between Unilever Ltd.. and Lever Brothers Ltd.. and con- firmed a reduction of the capital of Lever Brothers Ltd, from £130,- 000.000 to £117,000,000.

Japanese Promotion In Peiping
Tokyo, Dec. 21. A Japanese report from Peiping says that, moving to ensure Anan- cial stability in the area under its control. the "Provisional Govern- ment" has decided to create an Associated Reserve Bank of China, capitalised at $50,000,000 The new organ will Issue Inconvertible currency on a par with the yen and the Manchukuo yuan.
The capital of the bank will be subscribed in equal parts by leading Sino-Japanese banking organisa- tlons. The Japanese institutions participating in the project are the Yokohama Specie Bank and the Taiwan Bank. The Chinese banks subscribing include the Pro- vincial Bank of Hopel.
All these banks will be required to surrender silver bullion and certain securities to the reserve
organ.
The new institution will apply to a Japanese banking syndicate for opening credits for Y100,000,000 to be used to maintain the stability of the currency and for Industrial development. Gold and silver will also be purchased by the new organ to replenish its reserve.- Reuter.
