During the past week, the mar- ket, if such it can be called, was under the influence of alarming and/or alarmist advices as to the progress of political affairs, and, in consequence, ittle business was done. Such as was effected, was at sharply receding prices, the lat- ter being subject to negotiation, and hardly representative of market in the accepted sense.
In London, Far Eastern markets were steady generally, although Banks were marked down to £38, and sold locally at $1430.

Saragossa, Dec. 23. The fight for Teruel continued throughout the whole of to-day and resulted in the stiffening of the resistance put up by the National Spanish defenders. The Republicans have falled as yet to advance beyond the low-lying city walls on the right bank of the Turia.
