The report 1 the Harbour Master and Director of Air Ser- vices in Hong Kong showed general decrease in the amount of shipping using the port in 1938. In 1935 the tonnage entering and clearing thu Colony totalled 43,473,979, while in 1936 the total was 41.731,016, a decrease of 2,011,- 484 ton's.

Foreign-going shipping entering and clearing showed a net decrease of 4,927. vessels and 1,423,814 tons. while local shipping showed a de crease of 3.157 vessels and 319.149 tans. British ocean-going showed a decrease of 476 in number with
