MEMORANDA MA
I visited West Malling aerodrome, where Civil Servants are instructed in flying. The roof of one" of the aerodrome buildings bears the name "Maidstone Air Port." Maid- stone is about five miles away, writes the "Dally Telegraph and Morning Post" air correspondent.
Members come from offices in Whitehall and from other Govern- ment buildings in London and Outer London. Many earn salaries in which the cost of dying instruc- tion makes a big hole.
The terms on which they join the association and learn to fly are, however, easy. The average cost la about £12. This includes an entrance fee of one guinea, the cost of the Royal Aero Club or Air Ministry certificate, and the essen- tial outat of flying helmet, goggies and earphones.
The enthusiasm of the beginners is refreshing. It is that of the early days of flying. Some travel from town by coach to within a mile and a half and walk the rest of the way to the club,

Sergeant Estall said the defen- dant was a newcomer to the Colony and did not know the laws and customs. He was obviously an ignorant man and the reason why the charge had been taken out was because he had anchored his boat amidst a lot of other sampana in Aberdeen Harbour, and as he had 105 tins of kerosene oll on board, there was an element of danger in his action.
