SOUTH LOYAL

TO CENTRAL GOVERNMENT

(Continued from Page 1)

To meet and talk to, one could not wish for a better companion than this great Chinese leader. Despite his eminent position, he has a happy khack of quickly put- ting one at his ease. Friendly and courteous, His

Excellency, im- mediately apologised for keeping a "gentleman of the Press." waiting three hours!

ABOUNDING ENERGY

Having meanwhile been right royally entertained. I hastened to assure the Governor that the walt had by no means been unpleasant! -

My first impression of the Governor, was a most favourable one. He struck me as a man of great culture and his powerful dark brown eyes bespoke of authority and discipline. For his years and the great strain of the past few months, the energy and abounding vitality written all over him astonished me.

Our conversation was not a very long one, but His Excellency had a definite message to give to the world on the strength of which I would say that if there be any who sul harbour nations of disunity in China I would hasten to disillusion them, at any rate in so far as the South is concerned,
