-Special" squads therefore in our organisation will have to be train- ed in the various methods of re- moving mustard or making it com- paratively safe--remembering that It is a very persistent gas and the liquid is still giving off vapour. These will be called Decontamina- tion Squads,
HOW GASES COULD BE USED Now as to the way these gases could be used as far as we here are concerned..
1. By gas shell which I con- sider unlikely owing to the mall amount it would hold.
2. By gas cloud released from a ship, and so allowed to drift In this would be a somewhat dangerous method as the wind might shift and turn the tables.
80
3. By gas bomb dropped from the air this is the most likely and I think one can bet' on a persistent blister gas being used. 4. Gas spray from bigh flying aircraft.
The protection against gas is purely "Individua?” and that is by the "Respirator."
There are three types-Service, Civilian Duty and Civilian-all of which give 100 per cent protection against any w gas in the world. These will be explained more fully to you in a later lecture."

A sum of $50,000 is provided in the draft estimates for 1938, under head 27 Defence, (D) Air Raids Precautions. This amount was in- cluded a draft estimates before detalled recommendation as to" a programme of preparatory ́ mea- sures was avaliable and was in- terided only as a token amount. Since the cost of the programme of preparatory measures is roughly estimated at $1,500,000, and it is hoped to complete it within a short period of years, it is probable that the amount which will actually be spent next year will be consider- ably greater than the figure in the drait estimates,

MOVIE STARS IN CHARITY MATCH
One of the questions discussed at the monthly meeting of the Hong Kong" Football Association Council, held yesterday" afternoon in the Association's room in Gloucester Building under the chairmanship of Mr. W. Pryde, was whether It was feasible to send an Interport eleven to Shanghai at the present time." The matter was thoroughly examined from all angles, and after lengthy discussion it was unanimously agreed that lack of ade- quate finance. the comparatively poor public support that was forthcoming this season and the inability of finding a truly re- presentative side did not justify the sending of a team to Shang-
bal
The Chairman read to the meet- ing invitations from the Hong Kong Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation and the Eastern Ath- letic Association to arrange a team from the HK.F.A. to play a Chinese eleven at a proposed charity match for the purpose of raising funds for war relief in China. It was decided to respond to the Eastern Athletic's invitation, and that the match should be played on Christ- mas Day,
Mention was made in the letter that a short game might possibly be arranged between two ladies' teams to be selected from amongst Chinese movie stars, and as it was considered to be an attractive curtain-raiser the proposal met with the Council's approval.
A letter was read from the Hon Secretary of the Eastern Athletic Association thanking the HKFA. for arranging the benefit match in aid of the widow and dependents of the late Wong Ping. Eastern footballer, as the result of which
