3 306 are disposed of at a subsequent sale, they small lots and of little actual value -
At Spring Gardens, for M. Carter's late lot there. Lot however was no bigger, the adjoining river now in the occupation of Mr. De Silver was sold as well as the greater number of the Lots North of those two Lots : the small Lots North of the Hospital Hill were not sold, nor was there any bid for the Bengalen either. The result of this sale is perhaps as satisfactory as our late sales considering the great expense in the locality necessary before the Lots can be rendered available.
I have therefore little doubt that when once a beginning is made and it is seen that parties have established themselves in the District others will immediately follow; and as it has been determined that no Land shall be sold at the mouth of the Wongneichung Valley, I shall be prepared at an early date with another proposal for a sale in the same district which will enable us to obtain the Squatters from Wongneichung to erect permanent building on a suitable site.
I have, &c.,
