The total value of exports to the U.K. rose by £146,956 to £434,943, the commodities principally re- sponsible being caroba, carob seed. barley. raw cotton, lemons, oranges. asbestos and pyrites.

Imports from the United King- dom decreased by £36,962, totalling £491,579. On the other hand there was an increase in the value of

imports from Australia and India.

The report states that the mining industry continued to expand in 1938 and, the total value of mineral exports amounted to £712,000, compared with £164,977 in 1935. There was considerable prospecting activity.
