The Japanese delegate Asami, who said he had just made an ex- tensive tour of the islands, gave an account of their economic and cul- tural progress. The value of ex- ports increased from two million yen in 1922 to 26 million yen in 1935, mainly as a result of the growth of the sugar yield and the deve lopment of the fishing industry.-- Transocean New Service.
